Hatch Cover Seals

Hatch cover seals (packing) are mainly used in marine applications between hatch covers and coaming to prevent seawater from entering the ships hold. Seawather in the holds can cause catastrophic damage to the cargo. Our range of products are available for both newbuilding as well as repair projects.

Sponge rubber has traditionally been used very successfully, however since ships increased in size and hatch cover movement increased as well, sliding profiles were developed. Our range covers both standard and customized solutions to suit each particular application.

Our materials are produced to stringent specifications in order to ensure a consistantly high quality. As a standard we supply our materials in EPDM quality, on request alternative materials can be used.

Our solutions offer

  • Ease of installation
  • Long wearlife
  • Oil/Water tight
  • UV resistance
  • High physical properties
  • Suitability for wide temperature range

Sponge Rubber

Sponge rubber with three skins is used for watertight applications. When oil tight is required, four skins are used.

Typical sizes

  • 67 x 32mm
  • 67 x 42mm
  • 71 x 31mm
  • 71 x 40mm
  • 95 x 50mm

(available in 10 meter long rolls)

Sliding profiles

For applications where more movement is to be expected, sliding profiles have been developed to accomodate greater displacement of the hatch cover. These sliding parts are fully made of rubber with different patterns. These materials do not require a compression bar which is required for the traditional sponge rubbers. Improved sealing arrangements such as these prevent corrosion and damage due to water absorbtion.

Typical sizes

  • 70 x 70mm
  • 72 x 67mm

(available in 10 meter long rolls)
